Orchestra Six

Groovy, high-energy jazz, funk-infused rhythms and sweeping ballads – all featuring original compositions by drummer and composer Lars Beijbom. Orchestra Six is a six-piece band with the sound and impact of a full big band, yet with the intimacy and spontaneity of a small ensemble. Beijbom is a rhythmic wizard who leads the group with effortless authority – not by dominating, but by conjuring. When he drives the three-horn section forward, tight as a drum yet harmonically daring, you never quite know where the music will go next.

With a musical background that includes Radiojazzgruppen, Red Mitchell’s Communication, EGBA, the trailblazing 1980s band White Orange (featuring Tim Hagans, Johan Norberg and Hector Bingert), and the groundbreaking cross-border project Beijbom Kroner Big Band, Lars Beijbom draws from a deep well of inspiration. It's a well he taps into when composing for Orchestra Six – a band based in Lund/Malmö whose sound knows no boundaries and warmly invites audiences inside the music.
