Denna karismatiska och dynamiska saxofonist är en av de mest eftertraktade musikerna på soul- och funkscenen just nu. I sin musik hämtar hon inspiration i vintagesoundet från artister som James Brown, Maceo Parker, Sly and the Family Stone and the Meters, såväl som från klassisk jazz och modern hip hop, men det blir något helt annat när Lakecia tar ton. Med sin kraftfulla jazzintensitet, tajta peppiga funk och somriga, svängiga och dansanta vibe adderar hon en speciell atmosfär till varje stycke. Hennes elektriska scennärvaro och vassa spelteknik, har gjort att hon delat scen med superstjärnor som Stevie Wonder, Alicia Keys, The Roots, Macy Grey och många fler. Benjamin ger nu ut sitt tredje fullängdsalbum där hon hyllar två av 1900-talets största musikaliska innovatörer, John och Alice Coltrane.

Den kongolesiske musikern Ray Lema är en av de mest innovativa musikerna inom afrikansk musik. Under sin 50 år långa karriär har han samlat de flesta av kontinentens musiker i olika samarbeten. Nu hyllar han en ikonisk musiker, en av de största – Franco Luambo – den kongolesiska rumbans fader. Lakecia föddes 1982 i New York och är uppvuxen i Washington Heighs och har sysslat med musik sedan barnsben. Hon plockade upp saxofonen på Fiorello LaGuardia High School for Performing Arts, varefter hon sedan gick jazzprogrammet vid New Yorks New School University. Numera är Benjamin en framstående musiker för Gregory Porter samt musiker och arrangör för komedistjärnan Craig Robinson (Robinson, mest känd för sitt arbete på TV:s The Office samt populära filmer som Pineapple Express och Hot Tub Time Machine) och Nasty Delicious. Hon turnerar regelbundet med Nasty Delicious-bandet.

Benjamin har uppträtt på fyra kontinenter och hennes omfattande inspelningsmeriter inkluderar saxofon och arrangemang för bland annat Santigold, Maurice Brown, Clark Terry Big Band, Krystle Warren och TalibKweli. Hon har även haft äran att uppträda i Vita huset på president Obamas invigningsbal.
