A motif surfaces, a rhythm takes shape—Holland smiles, Waits responds with subtle shifts in the groove, and Shaw lets the melody unfold, rising to ecstatic heights. Solos are passed around like a feast, where each musician adds their own flavors and textures, shaping the music in real time.
Bassist Dave Holland entered the jazz world as a young Englishman in the late 1960s and has since become a significant stylist on his instrument. Drummer Nasheet Waits is a versatile and innovative musician from New York, with roots in both jazz tradition and contemporary expression. He has played with some of the biggest names in jazz and now leads acclaimed projects of his own, such as Equality and Tarbaby. Saxophonist Jaleel Shaw is part of the new wave of New York neomodernists – deeply rooted in the jazz tradition of the 1960s, yet unbound by it.

This is a picnic event, or as we like to call is: Picnic theater. That means that you may bring your own food and drinks to the event.
It doesn’t matter what you bring – take-away pizza at one table is followed by oysters and caviar at the next. Bring what you feel like, and don't forget to bring glasses and cuttlery!
Please note that you may not bring food if you have tickets for the balcony, only drinks and snacks.
