More about the artist

Captivating compositions and fiery melodies characterize The Shackleton Trio, which combines mandolin, fiddle, guitar, and banjo with powerful three-part harmonies. This trio, rooted in British, American, and Scandinavian folk traditions, creates a unique and exciting blend of Americana and folk. Georgia Shackleton, the singer and fiddler with origins from East Anglia in eastern England, contributes local stories that bring the band’s music to life.

In 2025, the band will celebrate its 10th anniversary with a new album and an extensive tour. The trio consists of Georgia Shackleton (fiddle, vocals), Aaren Bennett (guitar), and Nic Zuppardi (mandolin and banjo). Together, they draw inspiration from a variety of folk traditions, and Georgia’s ability to discover lesser-known songs from her homeland strengthens the band’s ties to the local culture.

Georgia accompanies herself on the fiddle and writes songs with deep narratives about other people. She is a talented singer and instrumentalist whose skills have been tested in various contexts. Alongside her trio, she has toured in the UK, Belgium, and the Netherlands, performing at well-known festivals such as the Rotterdam Bluegrass Festival, Cambridge Folk Festival, Towersey Festival, Broadstairs Folk Week, and Folk East.

Over a decade of performances has seen the band featured on BBC Radio 2, Radio 3, Radio 4, BBC 6 Music, RTE 1, and BBC Countryfile. They have also received glowing ★★★★★ reviews in the press, appeared on the prestigious main stage of the Cambridge Folk Festival, and participated in numerous British and European festivals as well as international tours. This is a band that clearly enjoys playing together and is not to be missed.
