More about the artist

Klubbkören is celebrating 15 years and welcoming spring at Victoriateatern! Klubbkören is a dynamic and positive force in Malmö. With songs in both Skånska and English about both loneliness and celebration, the choir comments on what it’s like to live together in the city. The members of the choir are a diverse group of stars who communicate warmth and joy with their charisma. The Malmö audience has truly taken Klubbkören to their hearts.

Through their concerts, which cater to both seniors and youth, and their collaborations with some of Sweden’s biggest hip-hop stars, as well as working with children – on TV, in films, in parks, at nightclubs, and on various stages – they have become an integral part of Malmö’s cultural ecosystem. For many years, Klubbkören’s packed concerts were a spring tradition for us. After a couple of years on hiatus and many assignments elsewhere, they are finally back! Prepare for an unexpected and unforgettable evening!

The choir leader, arranger, and producer is Erik Hjärpe, keyboardist in Timbuktu's band Damn!, and the bassist is Bo Raymond Knutsson. Klubbkören was founded in 2010 by journalist and DJ Johanna Olofsson. The choir's specialty is Skånska versions of hits from well-known artists like Prince, Bee Gees, Laura Mvula, Smokey Robinson, and Alicia Keys. However, Klubbkören also sings and raps in the original languages of songs by artists such as Depeche Mode, Kendrick Lamar, Rage Against the Machine, Jay-Z, Ginuwine, Chance the Rapper, James Blake, and Little Dragon.

When Klubbkören published their first video on YouTube, an interpretation of Tightrope, the creators Janelle Monáe and Outkast rapper Big Boi tweeted that they wanted them to join their tour.

Klubbkören has collaborated with artists such as Timbuktu, Frej Larsson, The Mahotella Queens (SA), Emil Jensen, Looptroop, bob hund, Electronic Wire Hustle (NZ), Skizz, Helena Josefsson, and Fastpoholmen (DK). They have performed at events such as Way Out West, Musikhjälpen, Malmö Sommarscen, Malmöfestivalen, Parkteatern in Stockholm, Göteborgs Konserthus, Nefertiti, and Vega (DK). In addition, they have appeared as a choir and extras in one of the Bert films, in Tunna Blå Linjen, and had roles as actors and singers in a short film.
