About the new album:
"Their goal is money and power - and they’ll do anything to get it now. The ground is rumbling and shaking from the bombs that keep on falling down" - the first single from Bror Gunnar Jansson & The Escapism begins with a call to recognize the power we are weighed down by.
Every line on "Refuge" sounds like being struck by a street preacher trying to grab hold of us, armed only with his near-cracked voice and deafeningly funky music to convince us. The improbable has a tendency to happen sooner or later, but that a Gothenburg band would emerge and not only carry on the music that Curtis Mayfield, Sly & The Family Stone as well as the heroes of neo-soul gave the world, but also say perhaps the most relevant thing about the state of the world in pop music 2025, was no one's hot tip at the turn of the year.
Bror Gunnar Jansson sings with power about vulnerability, with pathos against the establishment, and explicitly about genocide, hate, and how history repeats itself. All this set to music that draws us in rather than scares us away. As it should be with soul of the highest caliber, the beauty of the music never stands in opposition to the weight of the lyrics, quite the opposite.
The first single from the upcoming album "People!" will be released on September 12th on the newly started Hxng Jazz Records. The label's creative director Christopher Cantillo (Dina Ögon, Franska Trion m.m.) both plays on the record and co-produced it together with Bror Gunnar.
On stage:
Bror Gunnar Jansson – vocals and electric guitar
Dan Helgesen – organ, etc.
Fredrik Wallin – electric bass

This is a picnic event, or as we like to call is: Picnic theater. That means that you may bring your own food and drinks to the event.
It doesn’t matter what you bring – take-away pizza at one table is followed by oysters and caviar at the next. Bring what you feel like, and don't forget to bring glasses and cuttlery!
Please note that you may not bring food if you have tickets for the balcony, only drinks and snacks.
