After a critically acclaimed performance at Norrbotten Big Band's annual concert Soulful December 2019, a continued collaboration between the highly praised artist Tingsek and the big band has been eagerly awaited. Tingsek brings with him music that has been arranged for the band by, among others, Norrbotten Big Band's artistic director Joakim Milder. The project with Norrbotten Big Band presents an exciting meeting as Tingsek's intimately personal expression intersects with the big band's powerful energy.

– We are really looking forward to the collaboration with Tingsek, also because it is an obvious part of Norrbotten Big Band’s vision of the organic music scene – where creative, artistic encounters are allowed to grow, continue, and deepen, says Joakim.

The Skåne-born singer, songwriter, and producer Magnus Tingsek delivers modern soul of the highest world-class caliber that makes the audience fall backward. He is one of Sweden’s foremost live performers, leaving nothing to chance. Since making his debut at the age of 27 in the early 2000s, he has released eight albums and repeatedly delivered Swedish soul with influences from American traditions.

In 2021, Tingsek released his album Home, which, with its personal expression, was a natural and exciting development. Both lyrically and musically, with the single ”Family” as an excellent example. In the fall of 2022, he released an EP recorded together with the Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra, which in every way showcases the musical breadth this unique artist possesses. And now, in the spring of 2025, he has released a long-awaited new album. Although the albums differ, the music is always sharp and anticipatory, while explosively coming in and twisting it in the solar plexus.

Tingsek has collaborated with artists such as Ane Brun, Allen Stone, Emily King, and Timbuktu, and his music contains layers of gospel, soul, jazz, and Swedish lyrics.
