Formed in Malmö in the mid-90s, The Family Tree toured extensively throughout Sweden and the Nordic region – playing legendary venues like Nefertiti in Gothenburg, Fasching in Stockholm, KB in Malmö, and Park Café in Copenhagen, as well as major festivals like the Water Festival and Malmöfestivalen. In 1996, they released their acclaimed album Rouse! and made waves on Swedish radio with the hit Together. Other fan favorites include Superfunk and the anthemic Make Way for the Family. Alongside contemporaries like Stonefunkers, Blacknuss, and Newtone, The Family Tree became a cornerstone of the Swedish soul movement, earning frequent coverage on TV, in magazines, and the national press.
Fronted by vocalist and pianist Anders ”Hofstone” von Hofsten (renowned solo artist and musical director for artists including Simone Moreno) and rapper Patrik ”Mac” Larsson (now a respected figure in the music industry), the band continues to turn heads and move feet.
In the fall of 2019, Rouse! was released digitally for the first time, celebrated with two sold-out shows in Stockholm and Malmö in January 2020. Despite the pandemic, the comeback has carried on – with select performances over the past few years. And now, it’s finally time once again: their beloved hometown Malmö is calling.
So once again – make way for the family!
