Saxophonist Giacomo Smith is a central figure on the British jazz scene – frontman and driving force behind the acclaimed ensemble Kansas Smitty’s, founder of the jazz club by the same name, and a sought-after soloist who has performed with the likes of Jamie Cullum and Wynton Marsalis. Pianist Joe Webb, from the same new generation of British jazz talent, is widely regarded as one of the UK’s most exciting young players, known for his charismatic, swinging style. Together with Anders Fjeldsted, one of Denmark’s finest bassists, they complete a quartet that blends British vitality with Nordic elegance.
In 2024, Kirk raised the bar once again with his eighth album, What a Day – a vibrant recording brimming with infectious swing and original compositions that reimagine the sound of classic jazz for a new generation. Just a few months later, the album was named Album of the Year in the Jazz Heritage category by France’s prestigious Académie du Jazz.
